About
Modern subculture in general and its aspect of electronic music in particular are
often associated with ideas of urbanity, of big-city lifestyle and the hustle and
bustle of a metropolis. But, like in so many other aspects, the Psy Trance scene
turns out to be special in this respect: For it is above all the summer open air
festivals that represent the crystallisation points of its remarkable diverse creativity
concerning sound, decoration and individual lifestyle. These multicoloured gatherings
classically take place at remote places in the middle of nature. And talking about
these festivals inevitably leads to the North- East German State of Mecklenburg
as a definite hot spot for these subcultural events and this again leads to the
person of Christian Paeseler aka DJ Syncron and his extensive scene activities.

It was 1995. Only 16-year old Christian was pretty much into Vocal Trance and
Hardstyle when he had his first contact with the fascinating world of the Psy Trance
scene: The legendary first Shiva Moon festival was held on an acre only few
kilometres away from his home village. This stunning experience meant a very
important inspiration for the eager for action youngster. So one year later he
started spinning records and since there were rather few possibilities to party
in his area back then, he took matters in hand himself and organized small parties
together with some friends. A strong impetus to do so was his steadily rising
enthusiasm for mixing strong, driving music for a dance floor. This activity and
the parties, where he practised it, were highly appreciated by the local crowd.
And doing everything on their own, from decoration to sound system to music,
slowly but constantly the idea of organizing an entire festival grew and was
finally taken to practise in 1998 by Christian and some of his friends. Like usual
for the first time, things went quite chaotic and way too fast at the first
Indian Spirit festival that year but it was also quite some fun for the visitors and
also an important lection to learn. One year later Christian continued organizing
on his own and the rest is Trance history: His festivals Psychedelic Circus and
Indian Spirit have steadily grown and became established names among the
biggest open air events in North- East Germany and therefore among the most
important ones of the world wide scene.
